25TH ANNIVERSARY of THE NORMAL HEART

David Youse reached out to AIDS activist and playwright, Larry Kramer, to bring to life his play, The Normal Heart, by celebrating its’ 25th Anniversary. This idea, first produced at The Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, has raised over $175,000.00 which benefitted The Actors’ Fund, Mike Nichols’ Friends In Deed and The Jeffrey Goodman Special Care Clinic. David hired Academy Award and Tony winner, Joel Grey, to direct the reading as Mr. Grey was in the original cast of The Normal Heart, 25 years earlier. He then assembled an all star cast that included Lisa Kudrow, Tate Donovan, Dylan Walsh and Jon Tenney. The production went on to New York with a cast that included Tony and Emmy Award winner Glenn Close, Joe Mantello and Patrick Wilson. Following the one time special events, The Normal Heart had a 12 week Broadway run with Joe Mantello and Ellen Barkin directed by Joel Grey and George C. Wolfe in April of 2011. It garnered three Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Play.
